Person seriously injured from car fire on I-15 southbound near Point of the Mountain

BLUFFDALE, UT (KUTV) — A person is seriously injured after a car burst into flames on southbound Interstate 15, causing traffic delays near Point of the Mountain on Friday afternoon.

According to traffic cameras and photos sent to 2News, a car fire caused some traffic delays on southbound I-15 near Point of the Mountain.

No injuries are reported at this time. UDOT stated that the car fire has closed two lanes and should reopen by 1:30 p.m.

UHP stated on Twitter later Friday afternoon that the driver of the vehicle sustained serious, non-life threatening burns when their vehicle was engulfed in flames. They also added that Draper and South Jordan Fire Departments were on scene to extinguish the flames.
