KUTV — In just a little over two weeks, Salt Lake City will proudly host the 38th National Veterans Golden Age Games from August 24-29.
This exciting event will bring together nearly 1,100 veterans from across the nation to compete in a variety of sports, including cycling, javelin throwing, and so much more.
The games are hosted by our local VA— the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System— in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs' National Veterans Sports Programs and Special Events. It's a fantastic opportunity to honor and celebrate the athletic spirit of our veterans.
Shannon O’Rawe, who is coaching local veterans competing in the games, and Dennis Pegues, who is a army and navy veteran, spoke to Brooke Mangum about this event.
