A new survey gives Utah high marks for how it takes care of kids.
Wallethub said Utah ranks 49th in its list of states with the most underprivileged children.
The survey authors attribute much of Utah's success in this area to its economy and the state's strong families.
Of all the different traits measured, the Wallethub survey weighted the socio-economic welfare of children most highly, and that's where Utah scored the best out of all states.
Utah has the fewest children in single-parent homes and has the second fewest children in foster care.
It also comes in second best at having the fewest children in households below the poverty line.
In the other metrics the survey considered of health and education for kids, Utah scored closer to the middle of the pack.
All of Utah's neighboring states did more poorly on the survey.
New Mexico was ranked 4th worst, with Arizona at 10th and Nevada at 13th.
Wyoming was ranked 20th, with Idaho 36th and Colorado 37th in amount of underprivileged children.
