The Utah State football team is gearing-up for its fourth football season with Head Coach Blake Anderson calling the shots. He is just the second Head Coach in program history to lead the Aggies to a bowl game in each of his first three seasons. The Aggies won a Mountain West Championship and topped Oregon State at the Jimmy Kimmel L.A. Bowl in his first season in 2021.

Two months after wrapping their Spring football camp, and still months away from their 2024 season opener, Anderson joined Adam Mikulich on Talkin' Sports to spread a little cheer in a two-part interview. In part one, from their incredible depth at quarterback, to a new Defensive Coordinator in Logan, they go over a number of different topics in a more than ten minute long interview.

In part two, Adam and Blake look forward to the Utah-Utah State game in Logan September 14th. The two longtime in-state rivals have not met on the football field since 2015. They haven't played in Logan since 2012. That was the Aggies last win in this series. A sellout crowd is expected, and Anderson talks about the emotion that will be present and is sure to shape the game in unexpected ways.

Blake Anderson also talks about the importance of in-state recruiting and the presence of so many local high school products on the Aggies roster. But Anderson also talks about the critical mix of in-state and out-of-state players as they chase another championship. The Aggies non-conference schedule is interesting. USU opens with a winnable home game versus Robert Morris. Week 2 the Aggies go to USC before returning home to face the Utes. Week four the Aggies are at Temple.

Utah State is coming off of consecutive 6-7 seasons. Last year the Aggies were 0-7 against teams that qualified for bowl games. This year, early predictions have the Aggies in the middle of the Mountain West Conference, with two quarterbacks transferring into the program and two transferring out. Iowa's Spencer Petras is expected to start with Utah's Bryson Barnes backing him up.
